Crazy Turtle Action

The Many Peacocks

There are many peacocks that roam freely around flamingo gardens. You can buy food for the peacocks or any bird at vending machines around the park for a quarter. The birds will quickly become your friend if you have a handful of food.

Here is a very uncommon white peacock that would not come down from the tree.

Peacocks are members of the pheasant family, which I think means that their parents don't have much money and they live in poverty.

Florida Alligator

Here is a florida alligator laying in the sun waiting for me to leave.

The Big Iguana

Here are some pictures of a huge 5 foot or larger iguana laying on a rock that I spotted while on the tram tour of flamingo gardens.

Butterfly Mating

Here is a video of 3 butterflies mating that I stumbled upon. Why there are three I do not know, I guess one of them is just lucky. They all had such beautiful colors.

The Pink Flamingos

These are the pink flamingos, some of them are bathing while others are itching or drinking. They don't seem to move very much but their colors are very bright and a pleasure to observe. Their coloration comes from their diet which includes a particular type of shrimp that makes their feathers turn pink.

They live in a beautiful pond at flamingo gardens year round because the temperature in florida allows them to be comfortable in any season.

The pink flamingo pond is located near the flamingo gardens narrated tram which offers an optional tour of the back parts of flamingo gardens showing the many differnet types of plant life and varieties of fruit trees.

The Florida Panthers

This exibit at flamingo gardens housed two florida panters, this one was relaxing on a rock while his buddy was anxiously pacing the cage and wearing a path in the dirt.
